• Desde 1973, Murphy ha publicado veinticinco álbumes, con una impresionante respuesta de la crítica. Desde su celebrado debut Aquashow (del que la revista Rolling Stone escribió: “Elliott Murphy y su trabajo estarán con nosotros mientras siga existiendo el rock and roll”) hasta Soul Surfing, Elliott Murphy muestra un estilo propio y genuino. Su imaginería poética, su maestría a la hora de contar historias y sus letras introspectivas le han proporcionado un seguimiento de culto en Estados Unidos y un auténtico estrellato en Europa. “Pensaba que nadie me conocía allí”, recuerda, “hasta que en mi primer concierto en París me pidieron 6 bises”.
• Aclamado en su debut como “el nuevo Dylan”, título que también se disputaba su amigo Bruce Springsteen.
• Se trasladó a París a finales de los ochenta, donde vive actualmente con su esposa Françoise y su hijo Gaspard.
• La crítica lo considera uno de los más apasionados, cultos e inteligentes compositores del rock.
• Admirado por estrellas como Peter Buck de R.E.M., Lou Reed, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp y Elvis Costello. En uno de sus últimos álbumes colabora Bruce Springsteen, con quien ha compartido escenario en numerosas ocasiones.

Interpretó un pequeño papel en la película Roma, de Fellini (1972).
